SKYLA SPENCER Scores a Half-Page Feature in Country Weekly!
Jul 20, 2009
Nashville, TN (July 20, 2009) – As "This Girl" continues to work its way up the charts, SKYLA SPENCER continues to find ways to share her music. Most recently, she reaches out to the readers of Country Weekly magazine! The Winter Creek Records artist, songwriter, professional dancer, and choreographer has scored a half-page feature in the newest issue of the nationally-distributed publication! Skyla graces the lower half of page 54 in the Listen Up! section of the July 27 issue, which hits newsstand TODAY! (Blake Shelton is on the cover.)

This is Skyla's first appearance in Country Weekly, and it's an occasion she is - needless to say - very excited about. "It is a thrill and great honor to be included in the Listen Up! section of Country Weekly!" A longtime fan of the publication herself, she continues, "I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to reach out to Country Weekly readers and to my fans. It is a wonderful and very surreal feeling!"

It seems most fitting that "This Girl" is the song that gives Skyla the opportunity to make her debut in one of country music's longest running magazines. Inspired by personal experiences, Skyla and her co-writer friend, Heather Andrews, set out to write a song that would empower girls and women of any age. She shares, "The song sends the powerful message to never give up on your dreams, never give up on love, and to remember that nothing is out of reach if you believe!"

It wasn't that long ago that Skyla dreamed about having a featured piece in Country Weekly, thinking to herself, How cool would it be to be in this magazine. Today, she realizes this dream. It is a memorable career milestone in and of itself - but even more meaningful because it will allow Skyla to share her song and message with a broader fan base. With music as her vehicle, Skyla consciously drives toward creating music that will touch people's lives. "Through my music, I hope to bring a smile to someone's face and lift them up in some way."

Her current single does just that! "Making a difference and having an impact on someone's life is my main focus. I write songs from personal experiences and from other people's life. To share my music with one of the most well respected and known country music magazines and its readers is truly awesome!"

The July 27 print issue of Country Weekly is on sale from today through Sunday, July 26, 2009.

Also, beginning TODAY, fans are invited to download a FREE mp3 of "This Girl" by visiting www.countryweekly.com/freemusic. Download period for Skyla’s single will run two weeks: July 20 through August 3, 2009.

Radio Helps “This Girl” Reach Fans!
Jul 15, 2009
Nashville, TN (July 15, 2009) – Radio continues to play an integral role in the gradual success of SKYLA SPENCER’s current single, “This Girl”! Since its release to radio in May, “This Girl” has earned consistent spin and add increases from stations across the country. The single is currently at #25 on Indie World Country Chart. Skyla was recently the featured guest artist interviewed by Big Stew of WGSQ, The Country Giant, 94.7 FM out of Cookeville, TN.

Coming off another year at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, TN, Skyla is delighted that the positive message of empowerment that inspired her and co-writer Heather Andrews to pen “This Girl” is impacting fans. Angie, from Tennessee, shared her story with Skyla:

“I can relate to this song in so many ways. To me it is very inspiring and kind of like a rally song to remind you not to let yourself get knocked down by life's curve balls. I think this song is motivating and will pump girls up! You can't focus on the negative all the time and what isn't working in your life; you have to look towards the future and the positive. For me that is the message behind this song. I can just see the next bad day at work or the inevitable next bad break-up this will so be the song me and my friends rock out to, to remind us that there is so much more life to be lived, so many good times to be had, and this bad day is just one moment on our rollercoaster of life!”

The Winter Creek Records recording artist and songwriter is also an award-winning professional dancer and choreographer, and you’ll find her utilizing those skills each week at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville! Skyla is entirely in her element as she twirls all over the stage teaching dance steps to visitors to the world famous venue. Her charismatic personality and upbeat energy draw large crowds to the dance floor.

"This Girl" is now available to purchase on CD Baby and iTunes.

Skyla is a member of several social networks including MySpace and Facebook at www.myspace.com/skylaspencer and www.facebook.com/skylaspencer, respectively. Fans can also follow Skyla on twitter at www.twitter.com/skylaspencer.

“This Girl” Pulls Double Duty During CMA Music Festival Week!
Jun 9, 2009
Nashville, TN (June 9, 2009) – Winter Creek Records artist, songwriter, award-winning professional dancer, and choreographer, SKYLA SPENCER, will join the multitude of artists participating in this year’s CMA Music Festival! She will be on hand inside the Convention Center meeting fans at a number of sponsor booths on Friday, June 12 AND Saturday, June 13. Skyla will also be giving interviews to promote her current single, “This Girl”!

Everyone is invited to visit the world-famous venue Wednesday through Sunday evenings (June 10 – 14); Skyla will teach line dances step by step!

No stranger to juggling full schedules on a near-daily basis, Skyla admits, "I am not what you call a ‘real good sleeper.’ I am used to going for a few days on very little sleep. When I have a full schedule of appearances, interviews, shows, activities, and more, my motivation to keep me going is my FANS and my love for music. My fans support me and come to the shows and booth signings, so seeing and interacting with them makes all the difference!” Then again, when Skyla comes across a particularly difficult day, she does utilize a quick fix. “Morning Starbucks and the occasional Red Bull always help."

“This Girl,” which was released last month, is gaining momentum! The single debuts at #38 on the Indie World Top 40 Chart this week! “This Girl” is included on the CDX Vol. 474 disc compilation.
