STRUM MAGAZINE Nips Hacking Attempt in the Bud!
Apr 14, 2010
Nashville, TN (April 14, 2010) – STRUM MAGAZINE weathered a rough patch in their March Music Madness poll last week! An abnormal spike in escalated votes, particularly in the Unsigned Artist category between Olivia West and Johanna Jacobsen, caught the attention of the magazine’s editors. They believe a program that generates automatic votes may have been used to fuel a previous pairing. Though neither artist was at fault, knowledge of the situation forced Strum Magazine to suspend voting for the pairing mid-week.

Determined to ensure that voting remains fair in upcoming pairings and rounds, Strum Magazine is now requiring a one-time registration process on their website prior to voting. Registration is FREE at www.strummagazine.com, and fans can participate in the polls immediately after confirming their new accounts.

In addition, both Olivia and Johanna have been reentered into this week’s poll from last week, creating a total of five categories, instead of the usual four. Fifth week pairings are as follows:

UNSIGNED ARTISTS (1)

Dana Romanello vs. Johanna Jacobsen

UNSIGNED ARTISTS (2)

Olivia West vs. Raven Bro

INDEPENDENT ARTISTS

Stephenie Elli vs. Tawnya Reynolds

MAJOR ARTISTS

Easton Corbin vs. Randy Houser

SONGWRITERS

Ruth Collins vs. David Norris

New pairings will continue to be updated every Monday until Round 1 ends on May 9. All first round winners will then proceed onto all-new polls against other musicians in subsequent rounds until the Final Four grouping is chosen. One final set of polls will be posted, resulting in one winner from each category.
