TAMMY COCHRAN Heads to Kansas For 2nd Annual Fighting 4 Phoenix Poker Run!
Jul 8, 2010
Nashville, TN (July 8, 2010) – In her unending dedication to help find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, TAMMY COCHRAN is heading to Kansas for the 2nd Annual Fighting 4 Phoenix Poker Run! The family-friendly event is scheduled for this Saturday, July 10 in Hiawatha, Kansas, and ALL vehicles are welcome for the run!

Registration is from 11 AM – 12:45 PM at Hiawatha High School, with the run commencing at 1 PM. Upon completing registration at Hiawatha High School, riders will draw their first card. Additional cards may be drawn at Mueller's Lockerroom in Atchison, Fastlane in Troy, and White Cloud Casino. Riders will draw their final cards back at Hiawatha High School to complete their poker hands. Prizes will be awarded for best and worst hands.

Immediately following the end of the run, Tammy will treat guests to an intimate acoustic performance at the Hiawatha High School.

The registration fee is $20 for first hand and $5 for each additional hand. Those who register and attend the run will receive a wristband into the concert. Tickets are $10 (available at the gate) for those who only wish to attend the concert.

In addition to the poker run and concert, there will also be raffle drawings for prizes. This event is being held in honor of Phoenix Entrikin, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis shortly after birth. The Fighting 4 Phoenix Poker Run was born out of a mother’s initiative to help her son. Phoenix’s mother, Angela, shares, “Last year’s Poker Run was started out of pure desperation to do something. I watch Phoenix struggle every day to do one of life’s simplest tasks: breathe.” She continues, “We often get asked when Phoenix will get over this, and it pains me to say he won't. No matter how hard I try, this horrible disease has control over my son, and I can do nothing to fix it. I decided that if I couldn’t fix it, I’m going to fight against it! The Poker Run was a way for us to raise funds and fight for a cure.”

This is Tammy’s second consecutive year participating in this event. “Meeting Tammy has been an amazing experience,” Angela says. “She's been where we are at and has seen both the good and the bad sides to CF. It takes a big voice to make people notice, and I feel Tammy is that voice for CF.”

In her quest to aid her son, Angela maintains a positive outlook: “Phoenix may have Cystic Fibrosis, but Cystic Fibrosis will never have Phoenix!”

Anyone interested in attending or sending a donation may visit www.fighting4phoenix.blogspot.com. Proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

About Phoenix Entrikin:

Phoenix Entrikin was born with a meconium ileus, which required surgery when he was only a few days old. This was the first sign of Cystic Fibrosis. The surgeons emerged from the operating room and informed his parents there were greater than 95% odds that Phoenix had CF. That is the day his mother’s heart broke in two. Her son had something she could not fix, something that would subject him to daily struggles for his entire life.

On a healthy day, Phoenix – at just two years of age – will sit through 2 hours of chest therapy and breathing treatments. During a time of illness this can increase to anywhere from 4-6 hours of treatments a day.

For Phoenix, even eating is a chore; he must swallow pills that help him digest his food. Throughout the course of any given day, Phoenix receives more than 48 doses of medication. At night, he is hooked up to a feeding pump for 10 hours to try and help him maintain his weight.

TAMMY COCHRAN Opens Up to Country Weekly About Her Adoption!
Nov 17, 2009
Nashville, TN (November 16, 2009) – This week, TAMMY COCHRAN is opening up to Country Weekly magazine and fans about adopting her son, Shawn! In light of November being Adoption Awareness Month, Tammy gives country music’s premiere entertainment magazine an insightful interview in which she recounts her personal journey through enduring uncertainties, a roller coaster of emotions – and yes, a scandal, too – as she tried to adopt a child from Guatemala. Two years later after Tammy initially began her adoption process the end result was finally a triumphant one. “It was such a long and difficult process. It was an emotional roller coaster but worth every minute.”

The 3-page spread appears on pages 42 – 44 in the November 23 issue, which hits newsstands TODAY! The issue – with Reba McEntire and George Strait on the cover – will remain in stores for one week.

The adoption ordeal inspired Tammy to write a beautiful tribute song for her son titled “Half the World Away (Shawn’s Song).” The touching ballad also honors her son’s birth mother. This touching gesture was a natural decision on Tammy’s part. “Shawn's birth mother gave me the most precious gift in the world: the gift of a son. I couldn't imagine how hard that would be to do. For whatever reasons she had, and she made my dream of being a mom come true. To love someone a child so much, and let that child go for them to have a better life... is a reason to honor her.”

“Half the World Away (Shawn’s Song)” is one of eleven songs included on 30 Something and Single. Other standout track are “He Really Thinks He’s Got It,” “The One That Got Away,” and Tammy’s rendition of the timeless country classic, “Stand By Your Man.” Tammy has also included a re-recorded version of her Top 10 hit, “Angels in Waiting.” The updated version features an all-new instrumental arrangement.

30 Something and Single is available for purchase in the Merch section on Tammy’s official artist website at www.tammycochranfans.com.

International fans may purchase their copies of 30 Something and Single via CD Baby at www.cdbaby.com/cochrantammy .

TAMMY COCHRAN Shares “Half the World Away” With Country Weekly Readers!
Sep 21, 2009
Nashville, TN (September 21, 2009) – TAMMY COCHRAN is featured in the newest issue of Country Weekly, which hits newsstands TODAY! Tammy appears in the LISTEN UP! section on page 54. Fans are invited to download her song, “Half the World Away (Shawn’s Song),” free of charge at www.countryweekly.com/freemusic.

The print issue will remain on newsstands through next Sunday, September 27. Issue date is September 28, with George Strait is on the cover.

“Half the World Away (Shawn’s Song)” is written about Tammy’s son, Shawn, whom she adopted from Guatemala. "This song is so personal to me,” Tammy shares. “I wrote this song while I waiting for my son to come home to me from Guatemala.” Her impending adoption was prolonged spanning two years, due to controversy that arose while her adoption was being processed. "I guess I've always poured my heart and feelings into my music as a form of therapy, and this song is the product of what I was feeling at the time."

Tammy adds, "One thing I love about this song is that is honors the birth mother as well as the adoptive mother. There is no greater gift than being a mother, and no greater sacrifice. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to share my heart through this song."

“Half the World Away (Shawn’s Song)” is a featured track on Tammy’s new album, 30 Something and Single, which is available for purchase in the Merch section on Tammy’s official artist website at www.tammycochranfans.com.
